Description
Learn how to transform your knitted or crocheted pieces from homemade to handmade! Demystify the techniques that sometimes seem too hard or time-consuming. Among the techniques we’ll talk about: Seaming, picking up stitches in any situation, securely darning in yarn ends, making attractive buttonholes, adding pockets, creating selvedges, lengthening or shortening a garment, spacing buttons evenly, blocking, and learning to think about finishing before you pick up your needles or hook. NOTE: If you might have trouble navigating stairs, please let us know so that we can move blocking equipment to the main floor.
Homework: Using worsted weight animal-fiber yarn (or wool-blend), make 4 stockinette stitch swatches 4 inches square. Leave yarn attached on 2 of them. Then 2 stockinette stitch swatches 4 inches square (matching — for blocking), stitches loosely cast on and bound off.
Materials: Contrasting yarn in the same weight; appropriate needles , scissors, tapestry needle, tape measure. Handout will be provided.
For most classes, we hope you’ll use our beautiful yarns! We offer a 10% discount on full-priced materials for class use.
*For stash-buster classes, you surely may use your own yarns mixed with ours.
All classes include detailed handouts or (as relevant) printed patterns.
Classes may require a minimum number of participants; if Artisan Knitworks or the instructor has to cancel full refund (check) or store credit will be offered.
If you have to cancel your class registration within 7 days of the event, Artisan Knitworks offers a choice between 120% of your class fee for in-store merchandise, registration in another listed class, or a refund check for the amount paid. We cannot offer these choices within the 7-day window.
