Description

Learn to create reversible knits with Lily Chin. How often have you made scarves or shawls or afghans, wishing the “other side” was just as presentable? Always intrigued by reversibility, Lily will introduce some colorwork into these items and many others. Covered will be several knit-purl combinations.

Lily M. Chin is an internationally famous knitter and crocheter who has worked in the yarn industry for more than 30 years as a designer, instructor, and author of 8 books on knitting and crochet.

Skill Level:  Intermediate, must be able to follow charts with ease.

Homework: 

  1. ​​With any color worsted weight yarn and appropriate needles, cast on 7 sts, purl a row, and end off this color but leave sts on needles. You only need 12” of another contrasting color yarn of similar weight.
  2. With any light-colored, worsted weight yarn and appropriate needles, cast on 11 sts, work in Garter Stitch (knit all rows) for 6 rows total, place sts onto holder or keep on needles to be finished in class. You only need another 3 more yards of this yarn, plus 3 yards of another contrasting color yarn of similar weight.
  3. With any light-colored, worsted weight yarn and appropriate needles, cast on 9 sts, work in Seed St (All rows: (K1, P1) across, end K1). Work for 4 rows, place sts onto holder or keep on needles to be finished in class. You only need another 3 more yards of this yarn plus 3 yards of another two contrasting color yarns of similar weight.
  4. With any light-colored, worsted weight yarn and appropriate needles, cast on 12 sts. * Work in 1 x 1 ribbing for 2 rows, change to contrast color and do not end old color, work in 1 x 1 ribbing for 2 rows, change back to the original color and do not end new color, rep from * and work for about 3”, bind off and end off both yarns.
  5. With any light-colored, worsted weight yarn and appropriate needles, cast on 15 sts. Next row: (K3, P3) twice, end K3”, place sts onto holder or keep on needles to be finished in class. You will need another 8 more yards of this yarn plus 8 yards of another contrasting color yarn of similar weight.

Materials: 

  1. Worsted weight yarns, 3 to 5 different colors.
  2. The completed homework.
