Granny Square Kimono

This is a wide-bodied cropped kimono-style jacket made with Japanese yarns. Any long-color-run wool or wool-blend yarn would work, but we think that Noro’s subtle colorations set the jacket apart from traditional granny-square applications. Size is regulated with hook size. Blocking is very important, step by step. Don’t try to save time.

MATERIALS:
Noro Silk Garden (110 yards, 50 grams), 7 balls Color 428 (Train
to Tokyo), 3 balls Color 69 (Natural/white); can also use Silk
Garden Solo for trim. Don’t use a differently textured yarn for
edges. Alternative: Liberty Wool Print and Solid
TOOLS:
Size G (H, I) crochet hook (or hook required to achieve square
size), one size smaller for edging.
Size: Approx. 55 (60, 65) inches (each square 5.5, 6, and 6.5
inches)
GAUGE:
Make 1 square; lightly block, slightly stretched; measure across
to confirm proper size.
