Classes

Artisán Knitworks offers a variety of classes. The owner, Sandra VanBurkleo is a seasoned fiber artist and designer with more than fifty years of experience in knitting and (gasp) seventy years in crochet. She also brings her many years as a professor of History to offer clear, fun and easy-to-follow courses. If you don’t see what you want, ask! We probably can offer the class of your dreams – or at least a reasonable facsimile.

One-on-One Learning

Or we can offer a tutorial. Some people don’t like learning in groups. So – if you have a topic in mind, just ask – if it’s within our zone of expertise, we can help.

If you want to learn to knit or crochet, simply call the shop or drop in. We need only a day’s notice to get you up and at ’em. Basic sessions in knit or crochet cost twenty dollars for as many as three sessions. Once you have mastered all of the basics, you can arrange for further instruction or join a group.

Finishing Services

If you need help finishing a garment, bring it in. Sandra offers blocking and finishing services, though usually with a waiting period. Finishing cannot be done at the winter holidays without a significant lead time. The fee is $25 per hour. Occasionally she will agree to mend a knitted or crocheted object, but only if it is sturdy enough to warrant the effort. Very old or badly chewed-up pieces often cannot be repaired. All items brought into the shop for repair have to be clean.
