4/27/25 – Spring Means Flowers, Knit and Crochet

SPRING IS BUSTIN’ OUT ALL OVER…! 

Join us to welcome spring with a celebration of crocheted and knitted blooms!  This workshop can be downright raucous.  Most of the flowers are crocheted, but some cool knitted blossoms appear in the booklet that comes with registration (first compiled by Sandra in 2010!).  All of the flowers require a beginning knowledge of either knit or crochet; but crafters who are advanced beginners or more can participate easily.     

You should bring yarn you know you want to work with.  Sometimes, people want to make a flower to match a hat or bag.  But – you also can use yarn from a huge pile of materials in the middle of the table and grab what you want to play with.  Feel free to bring yarn to contribute to the pile.  Generally, DK or worsted weight yarns are best, but novelty yarns are fun too, and bulky yarns can be used for visual surprise.  Once it’s in the pile, though, you probably won’t get it back!     

Fingering or sport-weight yarns might be suitable for mini-blooms!   Bring appropriate tools.  

NOTE:   Artisan Knitworks will supply self-adhesive felt circles and pin backs in case you want to create wearable floral brooches.  

Before we’re done, you will probably be launching into your own variations on the patterns found in the class brochure — !

Skill level:  Advanced beginner and above … Must know basics of either knit or crochet – i.e., this is not a “learn to knit/crochet” class.  

Materials:  Stray balls of good quality animal or plant-based yarns, metallics, novelty yarns – whatever you have at hand.  Colors probably don’t matter.  A range of tools suited to the yarn (e.g., worsted, size 8 knitting needles, size H hook.  For DK, size 6 or 7 needles, size F or G hook).  Tapestry needle.

*For stash-buster classes, you surely may use your own yarns mixed with ours.

All classes include detailed handouts or (as relevant) printed patterns.

Classes may require a minimum number of participants.  If Artisan Knitworks or the instructor has to cancel, a full refund (check), registration in another class, or store credit (120% of tuition) will be offered.  If you have to cancel your class registration up to 7 days before the event, we offer the same choices.  However, we cannot offer these choices if you cancel within the 7-day window.
