The Artisán Knitworks fiber story
We offer a wide and well-stocked selection of machine-made and handcrafted yarns. From workaday to pure luxury. High quality and exceptional value.
Artisanal yarns are handspun or hand-dyed, or both. They are composed of natural fibers with the occasional addition of synthetic or decorative materials. Fibers include wool in many varieties, alpaca, llama, silk, mohair, cotton, linen, bamboo, and others. Weights range from super-bulky to gossamer lace. Monochromatic, heathered, and variegated yarns will dazzle your eyes and super-charge your imagination.
We remain the only retail source for many of the artisanal yarns we carry. Indeed, several makers tell us that Artisan Knitworks provided their first brick-and-mortar outlet. To help in such a way brings joy.
Artisan Knitworks also carries a broad range of mill-spun yarns. Again, we can’t carry every line available – and we prefer not to duplicate the central holdings of neighboring shops. But all of the companies with whom we deal adhere to fair-trade policies and produce goods of uncommon value, dollar for dollar.
Quality isn’t limited to hand-crafted yarns
Consequently, we have expanded the scope of our collection to include a broad range of mill-spun and dyed yarns. Like our artisanal fibers, these are quality yarns… that are truly affordable.
